The first step of the Pledge is to identify your "watershed address." Thinking about the watershed that we live in helps us understand better how our actions affect water quality downstream.
Three major watersheds comprise Tompkins County: the Cayuga Lake, Owasco Lake and Susquehanna River watersheds. Most of the county drains into Cayuga Lake; however, Owasco Inlet in the Groton area drains north into Owasco Lake. Similarly, the West Branch Owego Creek, Catatonk Creek and Cayuta Creek subwatersheds in the south of the county drain into the Susquehanna River.
Try to locate your "watershed address" using this map and indicate it in the checklist below. If you can't tell for sure from this map which watershed you live in, make your best guess. If you live in another county in the Cayuga Lake Watershed, please indicate this below.
